This very striking alien-looking orchid is of the Pleurothallidinae species and won the 1st Prize at the Hastings District Orchid Society’s annual show.

THE LOCATION:
Photographed in natural light at the Hastings District Orchid Society’s annual show at Bago Vineyard, Wauchope, NSW, Australia, on an early summer day in 2007.
THE MAKING of ‘Pleurothallidinae Sp Orchid’:
I chose the larger aperture to get a good depth of field through the main flower yet soften the flanking blooms to better show off the subject.
Fuji S9600: RAW, f/3.4 @ 1/58sec, Macro, Manual focus, Tripod, Timer.
