Don’t Panic! Don’t Panic!
THE SUBJECT:
The look of superiority on the face of the bull compared to the look of utter panic on the rider has really endeared this rodeo photograph to me.
THE LOCATION:
The 2007 Kundabung Rodeo held annually at Kundabung , NSW, Australia, a small rural community between Port Macquarie and Kempsey.
THE MAKING of ‘Don’t Panic! Don’t Panic!’:
This one proves just how good the angle of shot is from the top row of the small grandstand on which my friends and I were perched. This scene shot from ground level would not have the same impact and would be ruined by too much distracting background. And to think I was going to stay on the fence!!!!!
It was a very pleasant warm to hot spring day and I was perched on the top row of the small but very steep grandstand beside my two best Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club mates. It was a great day with plenty of bullriding action, music, rodeo clowns, good food and great Aussie country hospitality.
Unfortunately because of an Equine ‘Flu epidemic there were no horses at this year’s rodeo but the action with the bulls was enough to keep the adrenalin racing for us spectators as well as the riders.

UPDATE: 13-10-09
A B&W version of my seemingly terror striken rodeo bull rider was awarded a CREDIT in the Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club’s September 2009 Open Competition in the Large Monochrome Print section.
Enjoy!
