Cacey the Presenter
THE SUBJECT:
This outstanding young lady is Cacey, photographed as she was giving a presentation and demonstration on the application of make-up to models for photography.
Cacey was seventeen years old at the time would you believe and certainly has her head screwed on as she says she has known ever since she was seven years old that she wanted to be a professional make-up artist and work towards make-up artistry for plastic surgery. She is a delight to work with and a pleasure to know.
THE LOCATION:
The shot was made during a Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club studio night.
THE MAKING of ‘Cacey the Presenter’:
Cacey was seventeen years old at the time would you believe and certainly has her head screwed on as she says she has known ever since she was seven years old that she wanted to be a professional make-up artist and work towards make-up artistry for plastic surgery. She is a delight to work with and a pleasure to know.
I had a front row seat with my camera plugged in to the studio strobes as my external flash and I was following Cacey around with the camera as she went into her introduction. As soon as I saw her in this pose and with this expression, facing one of the lights, I quickly focussed and made the shot.
Now here is where the Photographer’s Luck comes in. Unknown to us all, the light on our right was accidentally set at ¼ power and had little to no affect for this shot – and just look at the result the lighting gave me!!!!!
I was the only one there to get this so I am sooooo chuffed.
This sort of lighting affect just screams out for B&W so the original was up for conversion for sure.
Fuji S9600: RAW, Manual settings of f/8 @ 1/160sec, Auto focus, ISO80, Hand held.
