Beachcombings - Panning for Gold
THE SUBJECT:
An empty Limpet shell flipped over and left high and dry by the receding tide looks a bit like a gold miner’s pan.
THE LOCATION:
Photographed on Wash House Beach, Dunbogan, NSW, Australia on a hot summer morning.
THE MAKING of ‘Beachcombings – Panning for Gold’:
The original RAW image was “cooked” heavily in Lightroom using a “recipe” I developed for my Beachcombings series then cropped and flipped for a more pleasing composition and “simmered” in Photoshop for presentation.
Fuji S9600: RAW, f/4 @ 1/1900sec, Manual focus, ISO80, Hand held.
Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3.
Visit the Close-up/Abstract/Still Life collection in my BubbleSite Gallery for more sandy delights.
UPDATE: 23-05-09
My inverted Limpet shell has been featured in the Nirvava Group.
UPDATE: 8-9-09
My gold panning seashell was awarded a MERIT & JUDGE’S CHOICE in the Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club’s August 2009 Competition in the Set Subject ‘Colour & Texture’ Small Print Section.
Enjoy!
