Tom Toms

This street scene was photographed in the main street of Taree , NSW, Australia, early in an autumn afternoon as a big storm was closing in fast.

I had come into town to check out some gear in a camera shop and while waiting for my two friends to finish their business I looked around for something – anything – to photograph to kill time. There was hardly a person in sight and everyone I did see was dashing off before the storm hit. I had already made a shot of the street lights and walked west about two hundred metres. I was really taken by the way the communications tower stood out against the slate grey sky and thought that a shot of these Tom Toms taken with a bit more contrast would make a good B&W.
